Marisa and David originally met in the spring of 2023 at Grace Bible Church Plantation after medical school transferred David to the Plantation area. Marisa had been living in Davie the majority of her life and had been teaching 2nd grade at Christian school for 8 years. By virtue of serving in the same ministry, David and Marisa had the opportunity to build a friendship over the course of 2 years. It was about that time that David finally mustered the courage to ask her out on a date after admiring her from afar (afar being a relative term as he sat right in front of her in church). Marisa accepted the invitation and the two visited Long Key Nature Center for their first "appointment". It only took 2 and a half hours for Marisa to realize she liked him back. After an agonizingly 8 weeks, David finally proposed to Marisa back at Long Key Nature Center with the following words: "Marisa, I love you. I love you. 9 weeks ago, I was blown away by you and now I'm over the moon for you. 9 weeks ago, I thought you were beautiful, but now you are what I think of when I think of beauty. 9 weeks ago, I enjoyed being around you but now I can't imagine my life without you. You are the Proverbs 31 woman. The woman who pours herself out for others. I love you. Many daughters have done nobly but you excel them all. I have found the one whom my soul loves. Only you. Marisa Anne will you give me the honor of laying my life down for you as long as we both shall live? Marisa Anne, will you team up with me for the rest of our lives showing a watching world what the love of Christ for his church looks like so that He might call His elect to Himself through us? Marisa Anne Troxel, will you marry me?" Marisa replied, "A million times yes!" They look forward to glorifying the Lord in a brand new way in their God-ordained roles and responsibilities as husband and wife to demonstrate Jesus' love for His church and the church's submission to Jesus.
