We had met originally back when Dave and a group of mutual friends started playing volleyball at Flatterys, a local dive bar. Leah would go there with friends to watch everyone play. That came full circle 10 years later; after running into Dave at Strikers while bartending, and at our good friend’s annual Ugly Christmas Sweater party (where we put a dent in a bottle of Jamo), it was volleyball season again, and this time Leah was playing! After that it was game on!
Leave it to rain to throw a wrench in the plans, and Dave to have to figure it out. Dave’s plan was to make dinner reservations two hours later than the time he told Leah, planning to tell her the reservation was “suddenly being moved back 2 hours” by the restaurant so that Leah would be dressed and ready and Dave could suggest they take a walk at nearby park Glen Falls to “pass the time”, where he had planned to propose. Naturally Leah freaked out ! It was raining…and she had just bought new white heels for her birthday! So no Glen Falls. So after a few stops for birthday drinks indoors, and throwing a wrench into Dave’s plans, they finally ended up at Giancarlo’s for dinner. We had a table for 2 in a little corner and after dinner, when the table was cleared, Dave started to say how much he loved me, and stood up…. At that exact moment our waiter returned, and as Dave stood next to the waiter and we both stared him down, he told us about the desserts! He walked away, finally, leaving the dessert menu. Dave then got down on one knee, and there was smiling, crying, laughing and kisses!! Yes, I told the waiter he totally interrupted!!! He ended up congratulating us and apologizing by giving us 2 splits of Prosecco and dessert to go!!! We couldn’t wait to tell our friends and family !!! And we CANNOT wait to celebrate with you all!!
