Leah was helping to lead a program at an intercity ministry (hope city) when David came along as an intern. The two didn't have much interaction for the first few months of overlap but soon began to build a friendship over washing the dinner dishes. The friendship began to blossom even more over facebook messenger while David was back in Wisconsin for his Christmas break. In mid-January when David returned to Kansas City he devised a plan to ask Leah to coffee. She said yes and the rest is history! Just Kidding... we will continue the story. January 21, 2017: David's coffee date actually didn't include any coffee instead he surprised Leah with an extravagant little date to the local aquarium + a sushi dinner + a walk downtown KC. Both were separately afraid that the other wouldn't be weird enough but that fear was quickly eased as they hung out and got to know each other over the months to follow. On February 18, 2018 (Leah's half-birthday) David took Leah ice skating at the outdoor rink downtown KC. After an afternoon of fun on the ice he lead her on a little adventure through downtown. They road the street train to the KC River Market and got off, walking down to the Love Lock Bridge overlooking the Missouri River. Once there, David surprised Leah with a sweet little lock of their own with the day's date and followed the lock gift up by dropping to his knee and proposing. Spoiler alert, she said "Yes!".
