We met on a Carnival Cruise. We were both part of the same group, 2020 Winter Ride with Ezzy Baldwin. David came with his best friend. And I came alone. We partied together, but there was no real connection. The last day of the Cruise, while waiting to disembark, David asked if we could talk via Facebook. I said yes. a few weeks later David invited me to a party, but was a no-show. To make up for standing me up, David invited me to lunch Saturday, March 7th at Copper Canyon...and baited me with great conversation. Unfortunately, Maryland would go on lock down that following Wednesday due to the Covid Pandemic. But every weekend after our lunch date, David found creative ways to entertain me, by planning all sorts of dates, including weekends in the mountains and horseback riding.
It was the day before Father's Day and David and I was just done checking into our room at the Sheraton Hotel in Crystal City, Virginia. David hands me a card and asks me to read it. He then hands me another card, which included a hand written note asking if I'd be his Queen, yes, no or maybe? Of course I checked "yes". I know, it was corny, but such a beautiful gesture.
David and my friend Dana planned a 80's/90's Hip Hop themed Birthday Party for me. I was so excited about having my friends and family celebrating with me. So while we were about to have a group toast (shots) David and I were rambling about how we met, when all of a sudden he was down on one knee asking me to marry him... then all I remember was EVERYONE screaming with joy as I accepted his proposal.. One of the best birthday presents I've ever received!
