Our Story

David and Kristy met in 2011 when David moved to Creston to attend SWCC. In 2014, both of them went on a mission trip to Guatemala with a crew of about 20 people. They first started hanging out in 2015 through the youth worship team, serving in church together, and being involved in missions to Guatemala. On February 15, 2017, they decided to pray and look into where God might take our relationship. A couple months later, on June 4th, David & Kristy officially started dating. At that time David was living in Indianola working in college ministry and Kristy was getting ready to move from Creston to Maryville, Missouri for college. They went through life changes together as Kristy began college and David changed careers, moving to Kansas City in 2018. Together they led a team to Guatemala, led worship throughout Iowa and Missouri, and continued to help serve in ministry together. Some of their adventures together include: organizing different fundraisers/events, going up in a hot air balloon, driving to visit David’s parents in Florida, getting a dog (Gus), and lots of movie nights. After prayer and seeking godly counsel, they decided it was time to take the next step in their relationship. On Sunday, May 12, 2019, David asked Kristy to marry him at Crest Baptist Church, after playing a song he wrote about their future together. Katie, Kristy’s twin, and Aaron, one of their good friends, were taking pictures during the proposal. They then went out to dinner and told their families the exciting news. Now, they look forward to the day they will become husband and wife, and most of all feel blessed and grateful to God for bringing them together. One of their saying since the beginning of their relationship has been, “For His bigger picture, God put us together.”
