When God is the author of your story, it is beautiful

When I found him whom my soul loves. I held on to him and would not let him go- Song of Solomon 3:4

I first heard about Kayon Watson in December 2018 while visiting a children’s center in Ethiopia. While having a conversation with the founder of the children’s center he told me about Kayon. This caused me to look her up on Facebook where I realized that we were already Facebook friends. Fast forward to July 2019 we exchanged phone numbers and engaged in small talk while I was living in East Africa. I was intentional to not mislead her with mixed signals because I didn’t seek an answer from the Lord regarding a romantic relationship with her, even though I was so thankful to meet a woman with a heart for overseas missions. I returned to Atlanta in the fall of 2019 for a short break before I moved to North Africa and during that time Kayon was also in Atlanta. I asked her out for coffee one day that week and we ended up meeting and talking every day for the duration of her 2 week trip. In May 2020 I had two major confirmations from the Lord that gave me the green light to pursue His daughter in courtship. On the memorable day of May 24th 2020, I asked Kayon for the honor of pursuing her heart as her boyfriend. I started falling in love with Kayon the more we talked Fall 2020 we met with some trusted Pastors in my life for relationship counseling while not forgetting our goal of pursuing Jesus and growing in our friendship. I thank God for how beautiful Kayon is on the inside and outside. She is the steadiest person I ever met and she is very intentional about her relationship with God, myself and others. I’m so thankful she knows her value as a daughter of God, and that is what I love about her the most. On November 14th, 2020 I had the honor to get on one knee, look at my beloved in her eyes and sing her a song I wrote to propose. I felt the Lord say Kayon is proof of His redeeming love. Lord willing, we hope to be moving to Africa soon after marriage to pursue God’s call on our lives to be His disciples and to share the Gospel of the Kingdom of God
