How We Met

One Birthday to One Love

Some may say the saying "meant to be" is too often tossed around, but we think it rings true in our case. David almost wasn't in Indianapolis, having previously accepted a job offer in Arizona, but was drawn back home after college. Katie almost applied to medical school to start right after college, but was drawn back to Indianapolis with a job offer and the promise of the unknown in hand. In December of 2017, our friend Ramon was guessing David's birthday across the room from Katie at the last Christmas party before the holidays. Ramon successfully guessed April 27th, and a post wine glass Katie called out "No way, that's MY birthday". After a few more glasses of wine, cards against humanity, and a Sean Bean Meme slid into Katie's direct messages later, something new began that day. We found out that celebrating two birthdays on one day was better than one. We found out that all the moments in our lives were filled with more joy, love, and laughter when we were with each other. We found out that we were meant to find each other, and from that grew something beautiful.

Engagement Story

First comes school, then comes marriage...

Soon after convincing David to move to downtown Indianapolis to be closer to her, Katie was accepted to medical school in Philadelphia, and they added another 700 miles between each other! Countless flights, drives, and facetime calls later, David moved out to Philadelphia to share a 500 square foot apartment with Katie. Our first tiny home saw us through two medical board exams, an entire pandemic, new jobs, many home-cooked meals, and a strengthened bond and love between one another. On April 24th, 2021, David drove Katie and his parents to our favorite restaurant in Philadelphia with a bit more heightened anxiety through Philly traffic than usual. "Quite romantic for dinner with his parents!" is what Katie thought when we found our table covered with rose petals in the wine cellar of the restaurant. It wasn't long until David got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. Katie responded with the easiest "Duh, duh, oh my god, yes!!!" (Ask to listen to the audio for a good laugh), and the rest is history!

Where We Are Now

Creating a Beautiful Life Together

Life came around full circle, as we are back in Indianapolis, Indiana to start Katie's residency in OBGYN and continue David's career with Boeing. We cannot wait to celebrate our wedding with you all!
