Karrie and David met the very first weekend of college, back in August 2008. Stony Brook had planned a bunch of events for the new Freshman to get acquainted with the school. One night, they had set up a Casino Night and both Karrie and David ended up checking it out. They made it to the blackjack table, but Karrie and her roommate didn't know how to play; luckily, David did and taught them how. They ended up hanging out for a bit and when it was time to say goodnight, they exchanged contact info, and as they say, the rest was history.

David's brother, Andrew, worked as a Sous Chef at the restaurant Roots Bistro Gourmand on Long Island and David and Karrie had wanted to check it out, so David worked with Andrew to set up a time for them to come in on January 21, 2017. David didn't know, but Karrie had a feeling there was more to this dinner than met the eye. She secretly got her nails done and picked out a nice outfit. That night at the restaurant, they brought out course after course, but they were both beyond nervous and couldn't eat more than a bite per course. After an excruciatingly long dinner, they finally brought out dessert, a cute little cake box surrounded with berries. As soon as they set it down, David lifted the lid, took out the ring, got down on one knee and asked Karrie if she would marry him. And, of course, Karrie said yes!
