Love in the time of corona....

Update for our September 20th wedding

This time has taught us a lot about being flexible and how to modify. We are proceeding with our September 20th wedding, but with some changes. We have moved venues. While Highland Manor was beautiful, it didn’t fit the feeling we have in mind for our new wedding. Now, we will be getting married at Mead Botanical Gardens in Winter Park with our reception onsite at the Azalea Lodge. This is a sister venue to Highland, so we get to keep our amazing Dubsdread team and catering. Because this pandemic is very much still happening, we have also decided to limit our guest list to bridal party/groomsmen and immediate family. This was such a difficult decision to make because we have so many people we love and would want to celebrate with us, but we can’t in good conscience proceed with 100+ guests with the current health risks. BUT we still want everyone to be involved! We are working on setting up a livestream option for everyone who can’t join us in person. We’ll be sending the links once we have that worked out. This definitley isn’t what we expected when we started planning, but at this point we want to start our lives together as a married couple. At the risk of sounding cliche, corona can’t cancel love!

How we met

07/07/2017

Like true Millenials, they met online. They were both on the dating app Bumble, and matched! Kaitlyn sent a measley “Hey 😊” and David turned that into a conversation. Within a couple days of talking, they decided they were interested enough to meet in person and set a date for Friday July 7th. David suggested the Crooked Can Brewery in Winter Garden, and so they met. Kaitlyn was a nervous wreck... What if he had a weird voice? What if he didn’t look anything like his pictures? But all those worries melted away when he walked across the street and tripped on the sidewalk. Kaitlyn was hooked. After a slightly awkward greeting, they started the evening talking about careers and interests over a couple beers. Drinks moved into pad thai, which moved into hours of conversation. After that first eight hour date, they knew there would be another. And several eight hour dates later here we are!

How He Asked

03/23/19

Kaitlyn and David had been discussing getting married for a few months, and knew it was what they both wanted. After looking at rings, David decided it was time to talk to his family and create what would be the most beautiful and perfect ring. They were getting ready for a trip out of town, but what Kaitlyn didn’t know, was that David already had the ring! After telling her he was spending the day with a friend, he drove the four hours and back to retrieve it, all before she even got home. That next week he got Kaitlyn’s dad’s blessing (and showed him the ring) and started concocting the perfect way to ask. And he knew it had to be somewhere special to them. When they returned home, he suggested they go to their favorite place: Wilderness Lodge outside of the Magic Kingdom. This was the place they celebrated birthdays, anniversaries, and any other special event. That Saturday would be no different. While walking along the lake side under beautiful moss trees and soft lamp light, David took Kaitlyn completely by surprise when he grabbed her hand and knelt on one knee. Amidst tears she said yes! It was the most perfect surprise ❤️
