Nine years ago, in the rare books archive of Western Washington University's Wilson Library, we found ourselves at the start of what would someday turn into "I do." We met in the busy months leading up to our college graduation, and just a few months after closing one chapter, we began the next on opposite sides of the world, living in different countries and then different states. For five years, we took turns flying back and forth between Colorado and New York to see each other over weekends. Endless phone calls made the space between visits lose a bit of its bite. Bless the telephone. Despite the 1,800 miles between us, we were ever set on a life together. In 2022, when Dave moved to Colorado, a piece of that life fell into place.
