At the confluence of the Potomac and Shenandoah Rivers, Harpers Ferry, WV is beautiful, historically significant, and only about a 30 minute drive from our venue! Harper's Ferry was the location of the raid led by abolitionist John Brown, the northernmost point held by the Confederacy, and changed hands eight times during the Civil War. Now it is a wonderful place for hiking, tubing, biking, and grabbing a bite to eat! And a whole host of other things! The Appalachian Trail runs through and the headquarters of the Appalachian Trail Conservancy is in town.
Drive about 45 minutes north of the venue and visit Gettysburg National Military Park in Pennsylvania to explore the pivotal 1863 Civil War battleground. Walk the hallowed grounds of Little Round Top, witness the Cyclorama, and visit the National Cemetery where Lincoln delivered his famous address.
About an hour’s drive away, Washington, D.C. makes an easy and worthwhile side trip if you have some extra time. Spend the day exploring iconic monuments and world-class (and mostly free!) museums, wander through walkable neighborhoods, or check out the waterfront, shops, and restaurants.
