Kiawah Island is about a 45-minute drive from Charleston. Guests can rent a car, take a taxi, or use rideshare services (though rideshare availability on the island may be limited). Shuttle services may also be arranged by the wedding couple.

Is parking available at The Ocean Course?
Answer
There is very limited parking available for guests at The Ocean Course. If you are staying on Kiawah Island though KIGR, there is island transportation available to/from the Ocean Course and Sanctuary Hotel.

Guests can stay at The Sanctuary Hotel, villas, or private rental homes on Kiawah Island. There are a range of options depending on your preference, from luxury accommodations to more budget-friendly options. There are no rooms reserved for our wedding specifically but we do have a discount code (22090) for 20% off villas & houses and 10% off hotel rooms

Yes, Kiawah Island offers several dining options, including restaurants at The Sanctuary Hotel, The Ocean Course Clubhouse, and various spots around the island and in Freshfields Village. Charleston, which is nearby, also has world-class dining options if you plan to venture out.

What should I wear to the wedding?
Answer
Plan to wear ‘beachy cocktail’ as the wedding is at 5:30 but we want to have a more comfortable setting. The weather should be warm but the oceanfront location can be breezy, so consider bringing a wrap or jacket. Comfortable shoes are recommended for walking on grass or sand.

Will the ceremony be outdoors?
Answer
Assuming the weather cooperates, the ceremony will be on the lawn behind the Ocean Course Clubhouse. If it rains, it will be upstairs inside the Clubhouse. Be prepared for sunny or breezy weather, and consider sunscreen, sunglasses, or a hat if needed.

Are children allowed at the wedding?
Answer
Yes, we welcome your children at the ceremony and reception but please understand that, after 8:00, the reception may not be kid-friendly (i.e. open bar, loud music, etc). There will be an activity room set up inside the clubhouse and kid-friendly dinner options will be available. Please just let us know if you plan on bringing your children.

Answer
You will need to get yourself to/from the wedding venues. That said, if you are staying on Kiawah Island through KIGR, you can utilize the free island transportation shuttles.

Kiawah Island has a mild, subtropical climate. March is typically very pleasant, with high temperatures near 70 degrees and lows near 50 degrees. It’s a good idea to check the weather forecast before the event and pack accordingly.
