We met in 2013 at Clemson University in South Carolina while we were both undergraduates in college. Since then, we have supported each other through the hard times and gotten together to celebrate the good times.
It is an inside-joke type story, but in short, David greatly surprised Jessica by proposing while playing one of their favorite video games.
We wanted something private but still wanted to dress up and have a fun experience. We stayed at a nice hotel for the weekend and drove a 1.5 hour beautiful scenic drive to the mountains to be married. We exchanged our own vows, exchanged rings, took photos, and then met a licensed support pig. Needless to say, we had the perfect day together.
No, the name Aurelia does not come from either side of our family. David is the only person in his generation with the surname Johnson, and since the loss of Jessica's beloved brother Bryan and beloved cousin Kevin, there are no males in her generation with the surname Canavan. We decided on a new name for the both of us to signify a new beginning, and each changed our middle names to keep our family names. Why Aurelia? To us it represents positive change and a beautiful future together.
