Jaynee and David first met at Fort Benning, Georgia on August 22, 2013, the night before Airborne Class 8-13 Graduation which David and Jaynee’s brother, Nick, were a part of. They got engaged December 24, 2013 in Brunswick, Maine. They were married on June 27, 2014 in Winter Park, Florida. Jaynee and David lived in the Orlando metro area from 2014 until September of 2017 when they relocated to Birmingham to be closer to Jaynee’s parents who had relocated to Birmingham two years prior. After four and a half years of trying to do marriage on their own and without God in the center, Jaynee and David separated on December 6, 2018 and officially divorced on January 22, 2019. During that time, while David participated in 21 Days of Prayer and fasting at Church of the Highlands with a new devotion to Christ, he heard the voice of the Lord tell him that he needed to reach out to Jaynee and reconcile their marriage— not on his own, but by God’s power. Taking a step of faith, David purchased tickets to the 2019 Marriage Conference and asked Jaynee to go with him to try and fix what was broken, as God had laid on David’s heart. Jaynee declined the invitation stating, “That may be what God is saying to you, but not to me.”
David of course understood her hesitation and asked for Jaynee to please at least watch the sermon series “The Song of Solomon” that was taught at the church the Febuary prior and that if after watching the series she still did not wish to attend the conference with David, he would leave her alone. It was through this series and being plugged into small groups at the church that led to both of them attending the Marriage Conference in February of 2019 as a divorced couple. Since then, David and Jaynee have been intentional to build their relationship on the Truth of God’s word and learn to follow how He designed marriage to be— full of commitment, service, and true joy. On August 12, 2019, David asked Jaynee if she would marry him and reunite what God once called together. Clearly, she said “Yes!”. We are so honored to share our story and to show what God has done in our lives in hope and with full expectation that He will use our testimony to inspire, encourage, and embolden others who have experienced the pain that comes from not walking with Him not only in marriage, but in life. With God, nothing is too far gone or too broken. “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing!” Isaiah 43:18-19 Forever His, Jaynee & David
