Question

Do I need to know German?

Answer

While it’s always helpful to know a few words or phrases, there’s no need to learn German before you get here! Berlin is an extremely international, English-friendly city. The wedding will be a mix of English and German, but primarily English.

Question

Where should I stay?

Answer

Berlin is well connected with great public transportation, but it is very big! We recommend staying in Prenzlauer Berg or Mitte. The hotels suggested on the Travel page are nearest to all of the weekend‘s events. If you would like some other suggestions, please reach out!

Question

How do I get around Berlin?

Answer

Berlin has an excellent public transportation system. Taxis and rideshare services are also widely available. We recommend using Google Maps or BVG (the local transportation app) for navigation and purchasing tickets. Please purchase your tickets before getting on to avoid having to pay any fines :)

Question

What will the weather be like?

Answer

The weather in Berlin in August is generally warm and sometimes quite humid, ranging from high 60s to 80s Fahrenheit. Rain is always possible, but we’re manifesting good weather!

Question

What should I wear?

Answer

Our dress code is semi-formal, but bring all of the color, sparkle, and spunk that your heart desires. We want you to feel festive but comfortable. One small note: the ceremony and dinner will take place in an outdoor pebble stone courtyard, so plan your footwear accordingly! Dancing will be inside.

Question

What time should I arrive?

Answer

Please plan to arrive between 5:00–5:15 PM so you have time to find a seat and settle in. The ceremony will begin at 5:30 PM.

Question

Are there things to do in Berlin?

Answer

Absolutely! Berlin is full of history, culture, food, and nightlife. We’ve included some of our favorite recommendations on the Things to Do page.

Question

Any other helpful tips?

Answer

- While many places in Berlin accept credit cards, some don’t! We highly recommend carrying some cash, especially for smaller shops and cafés. - Most shops and grocery stores in Germany are closed on Sundays. Restaurants will be open, but if you have any grocery or shopping needs, please keep that in mind.
