Here are a few restaurant that Grant and I recommend you visit while you are in town. If you want more recommendations please reach out to us. • Tacos Gil: these are the best street tacos you can find for breakfast. David and Grant love going here after playing paddle tennis in the morning. • Los Hidalgo: a traditional Mexican restaurant featuring plenty of incredible appetizers and entrées. • La Torrada: this is a delicious upscale Mexican restaurant. We recommend you call ahead of time to get a reservation. • The Food Box: Grant and David love this burger shop. They also serve excellent salads. The area around Safi Metropolitan also features incredible restaurants. The hotel concierge will happily recommend plenty of them.
Safi Metropolitan is located in the Metropolitan Center. There are plenty of activities to do here. We recommend the following: • BATBOX: this is an indoor baseball simulator, sports bar, and restaurant. • Racing Reality: this is an indoor F1 simulator where you can compete against your friends. You can pick any car and course that you want. • EPIC Cinema: the fanciest movie theatre in town. This theatre features a full restaurant menu with seat service, reclining seats, and drinks. Directly across the street from Metropolitan Center is Fashion Drive, another popular mall with plenty to do. We recommend popping in and exploring the center and visiting MÉXICO MÁGICO. • MÉXICO MÁGICO: this store features traditional Mexican artisanal arts, toys, and more!
If you want to learn more about Mexico and its complex history, we recommend you visit the Museum of Mexican History! The museum features exhibits from the early Mexican civilizations, the Spanish conquest, the Mexican War of Independence, the Mexican Revolution, and contemporary Mexico. Please note that the museum is closed on Monday.
There is a beautiful river boat cruise that will take you from the Museum of Mexican History to Parque Fundidora, the cities largest public park. Along the way, the boat guide will point out dozens of unique fountains that represent different aspects of Mexican culture.
Monterrey was historically a steelmaking city. Now that its economy has evolved, they turned the largest furnace, Horno 3, into a museum. The museum features a tour of the entire furnace, as well as a show that features how they used the furnace for steelmaking. Please note that the museum is closed on Monday.
There is beautiful hiking in Monterrey. The summit will show you a view of the entire city. Please be aware that it will be very hot and dry this time of year. If you do decide to go hiking, bring plenty of water with you, and do not be afraid of stopping the hike if it is too hot.
