David and Gaby met during the first week of high school! We were too busy worrying about how to navigate a new school to notice too much about each other, but soon enough we worked on a project together and became friends. We stayed friends until our sophomore year, when we decided to make it official during a movie marathon at Gaby's house during spring break 2014.

David and Gaby decided to go to college 500 miles apart, going from a 20 minute drive to a 12-hour drive (or 2-hour flight). David went to UVA, and did the brutal 1.5 hour drive at 4am from Charlottesville to Richmond for a 6:50am flight to Boston twice a year. Gaby went to Northeastern in Boston, and did a much more casual 40 minute MBTA ride to the airport to make a 9pm flight to Richmond, and then a pitch-dark drive to Charlottesville twice a year. Over their 4 years in college, we visited each other a whopping 14 times! Turns out long distance is time-consuming and expensive....

After college, David and Gaby decided that long distance sucked, so they cut the mileage down from 500 miles to just 300! Now, with only one state between them and disposable incomes, we saw each other nearly twice a month. David got the short end of the stick, having to drive through Washington, D.C. during rush hour both ways, but it all worked out.

After Gaby graduates from UNC (the week before the wedding), she will be moving to Wilmington, Delaware to study for the bar exam and start her job at a law firm in the area. David will join her once his lease runs out, but until then, they will be driving the 80-mile stretch of I-95 between Baltimore and Wilmington as much as possible. Does anyone know if EZ-Pass offers bulk discounts?
