Kjortåsen hike overlooking Tau, Norway (Ellen's family's hometown).

A common tradition in Norway is to share a candy bar when you arrive at a hike's destination. Kvikk Luncsh (Quick Lunch) is a Norwegian favorite of the Bride and Groom.

We try to continue the candy mid-hike tradition whenever we can in the US. Photo from Willow River State Park, WI

On our first joint trip to Norway, we were able to hike Månafossen with Ellen's uncle Jostein and aunt Jorunn. It was raining during the hike and the crew warmed up with dinner afterwards.

View from Reinaknuten hike in Norway. In the background you can see lakes chaining to the fjord on which both Stavanger and Tau reside.

One of the lookouts on the hike up to Preikestolen (Pulpit Rock).

View from Preikestolen (Pulpit Rock) in Norway. Ellen's extended family on her Mom's side lives about 20 minutes from this hike.

Our first ever view of the Pacific!

One of the beaches on the Oregon Coast. The weather inland was beautiful but the high winds made it a little chilly by the water.

Wow that's a big tree! As part of the West Coast trip we stopped by the Redwoods.

One of the groom's favorite TV quotes is "The sea was angry that day my friend..."
Ironically, Lake Michigan was pretty angry this day so both of us were seasick during this photo of Ellen's catch.

Bike ride in the Cities.

Music in the Park one summer day in 2025. The bride and groom try to get out to see live music regularly.

Winter hike in the Cities.

Taken minutes before I asked her to marry me. I didn't think that I'd be able to surprise her but I thankfully did.

We got engaged on November 22, 2025 at Tettegouche State Park. We officially started dating while looking out at Superior from this spot on May 18, 2020 and come back frequently.
