Please reach out to the bride or groom if you have any questions.
It was our Freshman year at the University of Colorado. The guys in my hall and I wanted to start a co-ed ultimate frisbee team with the hopes of meeting more girls. Eight of us boys reached out to as many of our girl-friends as possible and two of them showed up. On Tuesday March 11th, Elise walked onto the field and into my life. Elise and I played it cool for a couple of weeks, only seeing one another on the frisbee field and occasionally at a team hangout during the weekend. I was too chicken to ask Elise to hang out on our own at this point. Finally a great opportunity came. Jeff and I asked Savanna and Elise to go see an early showing of a movie on campus. Unfortunately (not really…) Jeff and Savanna could no longer make it. Elise and I enjoyed what became my favorite dinner at the C4C. In conversation before the movie, I asked Elise if she could play any song what would it be. Her response of "Eyes on Fire" by Blue Foundation excited me as this was one of my favorite songs too. After the movie, Elise and I met with my friend Bryce and we ventured towards the mountains for a night hike. Bryce quickly felt the vibes and did his best to be a wing-man. On the way up he played lovey-dovey songs in the car while Elise and I sat in the back. On the way down (during the hike) he went off into the woods to pee and purposely took his sweet time catching back up. This was the first night Elise and I held hands and my heart had never felt so full. Once back on campus Elise walked me back half way to my dorm and I immediately called Bryce to not only thank him, but also tell him that she's the one. Elise remembers this night as the first opportunity I missed in kissing her for the first time. In the next couple weeks Elise and I met for lunch every Tuesday and Thursday. Now here we are, seven years later, and she still wants to have lunch with me!
It all started with a "plan" to surprise David's dad with a NASCAR race at the Sonoma Raceway for Father's Day. We were to fly out early Saturday morning, spend the entire day exploring San Francisco, hike in Muir Woods National Monument the next morning, and meet up with and surprise David's parents for the race in Sonoma Sunday afternoon. All was going according to plan. David and I had an absolute blast in SF walking around, eating lots of food, taking the trolley, and he even made a joke about looking at engagement rings (a little suspicious if you ask me ;)). The next morning we were walking among the beautiful red wood trees in Muir Woods. I was admiring the scenery without a care in the world. Meanwhile, unbeknownst to me, David's adrenalin was flowing. As we were walking the main path, we came across an elegant display of red rose petals. David took me by the hand and that is where he got down on one knee and proposed! Luckily, one of David's friends from college, Kylie, lives in SF and she was able to capture the moment on camera, we will be forever grateful to her! After the proposal, David told me that he had a couple more surprises: 1. The "plan" for surprising his dad for Father's Day was a cover. He needed to get me to SF with zero questions asked 2. We were not going to the race (no left turns? darn!) 3. We were staying another night in a nearby town called Mill Valley (David secretly requested Monday off from my boss so we could have an extra night, aww) We had a fantastic remainder of the day filled with fish tacos, a beautiful coastal drive in a Challenger RT (kind of like racing if you ask me), champagne, the race on TV (with a short nap), and a wonderful sandwich dinner on our balcony overlooking the red wood trees.
