CATARINA AND DAVIDS ADVENTURES
We “met” on Bumble and decided to turn our chats into a real-life first date at La Parrilla in Modesto, California. Over a shared molcajete and lots of laughter, we quickly realized we enjoyed each other’s company. He romantically cut up and plated Cat’s food. The night ended a little early when David headed off to jujitsu—but not before we both knew this was just the beginning.
Before “I do,” there was TaskRabbit. We ran a little hustle together and loved to joke that we were “200 IQ together.” From strange customers to projects that definitely did not go as planned, we learned quickly how well we worked as a team. We’d often help married couples who told us they could never build a desk together without losing their minds—meanwhile, David and I were assembling furniture, scrubbing toilets, and problem-solving side by side. Through hard work, unexpected challenges, and plenty of laughs, we proved early on that we could handle anything together.
When Catarina met David, she had a senior, dog-selective Pitbull rescue, and David had a senior Chihuahua named Jasper (affectionately known as “Ham”). Against all odds, the two dogs became fast friends, giving each other comfort and companionship in their golden years. Just like the Bride and Groom, the two were made for each other. As time went on, David showed his unwavering love not just for Catarina, but for Tydas as well. When Tydas eventually lost the use of his back legs and struggled with incontinence, David cared for him with patience, tenderness, and grace. He carried this big dog wherever he needed to go, welcomed him into the bed each night, and loved him unconditionally—proving early on the kind of partner and person he truly is.
