How we met

4/30/2016

One of Dave's friends and work clients, AJ, was trying to setup a double date for he and his wife, Melissa, and Camila and Dave. Camila and Melissa went to high school and UofA together and Camila had recently moved up to Phoenix from Tucson. Dave got a little antsy and asked for Camila's number since coordinating four young professionals' schedules became quite a feat. After texting for a couple of days, their first date was a "Day Date" at The Vig, in Arcadia, on April 30th, 2016. It went very well and lasted 7 hours but did not end with a kiss... that was saved for date #2.

The courtship

4/30/2016 - 6/3/2017

A majority of our courtship was long distance which was tough at times, but as everyone knows who's been in a successful one, you truly get to know the person for who they are. We committed to FaceTiming every night and texting/talking sporadically throughout the day. We also traveled back and forth every 3-4 weeks which lead to some pretty awesome date nights. The first time we seriously talked about our futures together, and the probability of marriage, was when we were in Cancun eating breakfast and overlooking a gorgeous turquoise ocean. The conversation ended in tears, mostly on Dave's end, but it was without a doubt one of the most amazing feelings of overwhelming reciprocated love.

The Proposal

6/3/2017

Another amazing day which sparked a new chapter in our lives. Lots of people were involved and special thanks to my parents and to Tina/Troy who captured the entire engagement beautifully. The pictures are on this site if you'd like to relive the wonderful day. Camila was visiting me that weekend and we headed down to have brunch with my parents the next day. When we arrived at my parents house, the place was empty and they yelled from upstairs that something had happened in the kitchen and they still needed about 20 minutes to get ready. They recommend we go on a walk and I remembered that there was this cool bridge overlooking the ocean, not far from their house. We walked down and found ourselves alone overlooking an amazing ocean full of waves and a couple whales in the distance. It was then when I told Camila that it wasn't a coincidence that my parents weren't ready yet, that I had planned for them to say that which would give us time to take a walk and talk. I told her that how the last year was my happiest in my life and... to be honest this is where I black out a bit. But it ended with me on one knee taking out an over sized engagement ring box from my sock and asking for Camila's hand in marriage. We then turned around to see Troy capturing the moment with Tina close behind. We took engagement photos at a park and then on the beach. When we arrived back at my parents house it was filled with a champagne brunch with friends and family. It truly was an amazing day.
