Philip is David's younger brother and has therefore known him for some time. They first met when Philip was just 0 years old and it's been downhill ever since. Somehow, they still get along pretty darn well. Philip now lives in Washington, D.C. with his cat, Darjeeling. When he isn't catering to her feline whims, he works for the U.S. Government Accountability Office as a data scientist.

David met Tim while working his first summer at Long Lake Camp for the Arts in upstate New York. Given to proposing big ideas and and optimistically committed to trying them out because, hey, they might work, like a mad Pied Piper, Tim has been responsible for some of the most fun and most consequential moments in David's life. It was Tim who finally convinced David to move down to Peekskill and it was on Tim's front porch that David met Caitie. Needless to say, David owes him quite a lot. Tim lives with his wife, Hilary, and their son, Konrad, in Peekskill, NY, dangerously within walking distance of David.

David met Lucas in college at the study-abroad program they both attended in Florence, Italy. It is no exaggeration to say that, had this not occurred, and had they not become immediate friends, none of this would be happening. After bonding over their shared love of music, science fiction, and history, Lucas convinced David to work at Long Lake Camp for the Arts the summer after graduation. Lucas is a professional guitarist in Brooklyn, NY and it will be his band that will be providing the dance music at the reception!

Friends since high school, Marissa and David first bonded while getting admonished for talking to each other during French class and orchestra rehearsal. Over the nearly 26 years they have known each other, they have taken joy in each other's successes and occasionally called each other while crying. Mostly, they have just enjoyed the company and comfort of a true friend. Marissa lives in Eugene, OR with her husband, José, where she runs a nonprofit serving Latino and immigrant families.
