Maid of Honor
I’ve known Benny for over a decade, and honestly, it feels like fate brought us together. I could have easily missed the chance to meet her because she was always indoors. We both lived in the same apartment complex, where kids our age would play outside and take part in kid-friendly activities organized by after-school, faith-based programs. One day, our mutual friends and myself were gathering people to attend an event at Discovery Green Park, and Benny was one of the people we had to convince to join us. “C’mon, you’ll have so much fun!” I urged, not knowing her well but hoping to encourage her to come hang out with us. She reluctantly agreed and we ended up having an amazing time! From that day forward, our bond was formed, and we've been inseparable ever since.

I'm honored to stand as a friend and witness David's journey. I've had the privilege of knowing David since his younger years, and I've seen him grow into a motivated, ambitious, and courageous individual. When David shared his desire to get married, I was thrilled and encouraged him as a fellow married person. I assured him everything would work out under God's guidance and control. As we celebrate this new chapter in David's life, I'm reminded that God is good, and His timing is perfect. I pray that God's goodness and blessings will follow David and his fiancée throughout their wedding preparations and beyond. Congratulations, David! May God bless you and your future wife abundantly.

Benny and I’s friendship/ sisterhood began through the friendship of our parents. And I remember when I first talked to her I just knew we’d be friends for life. Her kind, sweet and caring heart is one of the most beautiful things about Benny. Until this day Benny continues to inspire me, through her determination and courage.

I first met David at the university dining hall. Before that day, I had seen him around campus a lot, but we never really talked. I was an athlete, and he wasn’t, so I guess he just thought I was another Black American kid passing through. But one day, I decided to walk up and introduce myself. As we started talking, I heard him speaking Swahili. I was like, “Wait – you speak Swahili?” And he said, “Yeah.” That’s when I asked, “Hold up – you’re Congolese too?” From that moment, everything clicked. By God’s grace, we started doing campus ministry together, and over time, our friendship grew stronger. Eventually, we became roommates, and David wasn’t just a friend anymore – he became a brother to me. He’s been by my side ever since, and I couldn’t be more grateful for the bond we share.

I first met Benedicte at a wedding in New York. She seemed really cool, but we didn’t interact much since she was part of the bridal party and quite busy. The following year, we met again at another wedding, and this time, I had the chance to talk with her while helping with some backyard decorations she was working on. From there, we exchanged Instagram handles, and I remember how supportive she was, encouraging me with my studies. Benedicte is such a kind and genuine person, and I’m so happy to know her. Congratulations to Benny and David—I can’t wait to celebrate with you!

Even though we grew up far apart, I’ve always known David was family. We met when we were younger and stayed in touch with occasional phone calls, but it wasn’t until 2024, when we reconnected as adults, that our bond truly clicked. It became clear right away that we were family—our sense of humor matched perfectly, and it felt like I had found a long-lost brother. David is incredibly talented, especially in music and video production. But what stands out even more is his kind heart and the unwavering support he gives to his siblings. His generosity and warmth speak volumes about the person he is.

My First Memory With Benny was when we had our first outing. I was nervous cause we only met one time and it was when she was getting locs dyed and she texted me after and invited me out. This outing I was so comfortable and I opened up and so did she. I never knew from that Lunch we shared I would have a forever sister. I’m grateful for this sisterhood God allowed me to find and God has covered my good sis. We are Lit this June!

The first time I saw/met David was in Buffalo, New York, for Mervielle’s wedding. Initially, I thought we were family, but later, I realized that while we weren’t related by blood, we belonged to the same spiritual and professional (photography and videography) family.

My first memory of Benny dates back to the few times she joined us to play outside when we all lived in the same apartments. However, I truly grew close to her when I started high school. Benny holds a special place in my heart because, from the start, she embraced me as one of her younger sisters and always looked out for me. Our car rides to and from school played a crucial part in our relationship. As our bond deepened, I knew she’d be a part of my life forever. She’s the kind of person who cares deeply for those she loves, with every ounce of her being.

Since I was young, I remember seeing David at Grandma Angeline Namwira’s house. Even now, we still meet at family events and more. David, we’re family, and that bond is unbreakable. Congratulations, David and Benedicte, and best of luck in this new chapter!

My earliest memory of Benny is of us dancing together when we were younger—I’ve known her my whole life. I always wanted an older sister, and she has been that for me. When I think of her, I see the kind of woman I aspire to be: she’s a go-getter, she speaks her mind, and most importantly, she is a woman of God.

A few years ago, my family and I had the chance to spend Christmas with our Grandpa’s brother and his family. There, I got to spend time with David. One night, both our families were enjoying time together and that night I got to play instruments and produce some music with David. Singing, rapping, and laughing all together.

The first time I met da Benedict I knew that me and her would get along, she was so sweet and so nice. Da Benedict is the sweetest most nicest person I know, she is also an amazing person to go to for advice. I am going to miss going to her house and straight to her room just to vent to her. I am overjoyed and excited to be a part of her big day.

Growing up, I looked up to David a lot—not just because he’s my older brother, but also because of his incredible talents and skills. David is both creative and artistic, and many of the skills I have today are because I learned them from him. For example, David is great at playing the drums, so I started to like the drums too. He was also the first in our family to start drawing, which inspired me to pick up drawing as well. I’ll never forget the day I had no toys to play with, and David taught me how to make a bike out of wires. He showed me how to bend wires to create objects, and now, years later, I can confidently say I’m much better than him at sculpting with wires! But all of this started because he took the time to show me how.

Benedicte is not only my big sister but another mother figure to me. My early memories of her were caring for my siblings and me at a young age. She always made sure we were 100%, and to this day, she still does. I will forever appreciate her dedication to us as a big sister! I look up to her so much because she has set an amazing example to follow.

The first time I met David was at my house. He had his camera slung over his shoulder, ready to capture every moment. He started snapping pictures of the family, the house, and even the little details like the flowers on the table. As we chatted, he shared some of his latest music tracks, filling the room with his creative energy. It felt like he brought a piece of his artistic world into our home, making the evening unforgettable.
