We met at an All-State Band event, and we never anticipated what a flirty exchange would become. We chatted briefly during a break from rehearsals, and our infatuation with each other just took off. After a few more awkward conversations, passing hellos, and a band concert, we finally exchanged numbers. Our story is a little unconventional because we lived over three hours apart. Our entire relationship, apart from the weekend we met, was long distance, and texting and calling was our only form of communication. The first year of our relationship, we visited only a handful of times, and then David headed off to his freshman year of college, while Nya finished her senior year of high school. The days ahead were long and grueling. Confined completely to texting and calling. Our relationship grew, but long distance was taking its toll. Soon, summer came, and we were able to visit each month until we went to college together at Maranatha Baptist University. It was at school that our love for each other truly blossomed and flourished. We may have learned more about each other than any of our classes... Finally, April came around. Shortly after celebrating our second full year of dating. I, David, proposed to Nya in old city, Milwaukee. I plan to make Annanya Grace my wife on May 16, 2026.
