Castle & Key is our FAVORITE distillery! Not only are the mixed drinks at the bar delicious, but the entire grounds are amazing. Such a beautiful place to just sit and have a drink and enjoy the beautiful scenery, or take a stroll on the path. If you want to book a tour make sure to do so ahead of time. You don't need a reservation to enjoy the grounds, and make sure to check out the amazing merch store. It is about a 35-40 min drive to get there.
James E. Pepper was the first to invent the Old Fashion. This will be the closest Distillery nearby (5-6 min drive) make sure to book online for a tour. The entire grounds ( The Distillery District) is so fun, there are few restaurants to choose from, some new spots we haven't visited yet. The Pizza at goodfellas is the best pizza in town and reminds us of NY pizza, and is two doors down from James E. Pepper.
Etheral was the very first brewery that we went to on our first visit to Lexington. They have many beer options, some ciders, alcohol slushy machine, and good beer cheese and pretzels ( also was my first time trying beer cheese here). It's right next door to our favorite pizza spot Good fellas. This is also located at the distillery district about 5 min drive from hotel.
Buffalo Trace is another distillery that has beautiful grounds, we've walked around some of it. Make sure to book online if you want to take a tour.
Four roses is booked out months in advance, so make sure that you book as soon as possible if you want to take a tour.
Carson's is one of our favorite restaurants, make sure to make a reservation for dinner it's a popular place and is always pretty busy. They have delicious food and cocktails, make sure to try the bbq rib appetizer it's the best and you will regret it if you don't try it.
Joe Bologna's is our favorite Italian restaurant, also the first restaurant where David and I had dinner on our very first visit to Lexington. Just wait until you get your breadstick!
Tony's is one of the two main steakhouses in town, along with Jeff Ruby's. Steaks are top notch but David's favorite dish is the Rig-a-Tony, and you have to try the Bourbon whipped sweet potatoes they are absolutely delicious. They also have the best Lychee Martini I have ever had!
Mama Tequila is such a cute restaurant, they have a lot of delicious Mexican dishes and a wonderful drink menu. My favorite drink is the Cucumber Margarita. Mama Tequila turns into a night club at night and is actually my favorite spot to go out to dance, we always take our friends who come to visit there and they love it, it's super fun and they always have good music.
