We met in high school at the end of senior year. In the scramble of looking for extra graduation tickets we exchanged numbers. Summer came and went. We went our separate ways to college, but it didn't take long for us to realize that there was more than a friendship between us. Okay really just me. David knew it all along, it just took longer for me to believe it. I'm lucky to be in love with my best friend. Seven years later, I'm thankful I needed those extra graduation tickets!
The weekend after my birthday, David told me we were meeting some of my friends at a local winery. As we drove up the steep hill to the winery, David wanted to park at the bottom parking lot. I argued that his truck couldn't fit in this small spot and we would be much closer if we parked in the top lot. David, a little flustered, moved us up to the top parking lot and hit the retaining wall as we pulled into the parking spot! Fortunately there was no damage to the wall. From there he walked me back down the hill we just drove all the way up. I was so confused and told him, "I did not bring my walking shoes for this!" Of course I had to stop and pet every dog along the way as David waited patiently, yet anxious as well. He lead me up a path between the vines and got down on one knee. It was beautiful! He planned out everything from scoping out the best vines to walk through, celebratory drinks with the family, and a surprise party back at the house afterwards. It's been the best day of my life and I will forever remember how beautiful it was!
We are blessed to still be able to get married this June, but our celebration will take place next year on June 26, 2021. Hopefully by then the only Corona at our party will be the kind served with limes! We will miss not having our family and friends at our ceremony this year, but we want everyone to stay healthy and safe! We look forward to celebrating with you in June 2021!
