Alex and David will be in Kigali from June 18-23, but feel free to plan your travel dates as you see fit

Answer

Yes! Your passport needs to be valid for at least another 6 months at the time of travel. Make sure to apply for one (or renew it) at least 3 months ahead of time if you don't have one already.

Yes, but you can purchase one on arrival to the Kigali Airport! It costs ~$50.

What is the currency?

The Rwandan Franc. 1 USD is equal to approximately 1,450 RWF. There is a currency change at the Kigali Airport. Most of your transactions will be via credit card (make sure to notify them that you are traveling to avoid triggering a fraud alert), but carrying ~$50 worth of RWF is reasonable.

Any smart casual clothing of your choice. The weather should be around 70 degrees Fahrenheit in the evening.

We invite you to wear garden party formal attire. We will be outside. If you would like to wear the traditional mushanana, send your clothing measurements to Alex or David!

Any casual or athletic wear, preferably earthy colors (beige, brown, green) covering extremities to protect against any bugs/bites

Answer

Most phone carriers offer international roaming. Otherwise, most indoor locations will have wifi (which will allow you to use Whatsapp) or if your phone is unlocked you can purchase a Rwandan sim card. But don't worry, we will stay together!
