David and I got set up for a date to meet; arranged by Davids cousin Miles, and my girlfriend. We went as a group to the Liberty Station Beerfest. As the day progressed we exchanged numbers, he took us all to my house and went separate ways. At the time we both had no idea where this encounter would take us as we didn’t get to spend lots of time together but knew that we thought each other were funny & cute... Weeks later we finally connected again at Miles Wedding, David spent the night for the first time & it was magic ever since. I ventured to Ramona multiple nights a week, David went out with me on work day nights. Our trust and self sacrifices to make the other person happy began from the very beginning. We learned that we were each others favorite travel buddy, trying new things was better together & our friends and family helped us build a great foundation of our relationship. 3 years later with a lot of love, laughs and life we knew that our life was going to be us against the world- David got a job in Hawaii and he asked me to go with him.
On June 23rd, 2018 we had a huge celebration for a going away party with our closest friends and family. We danced and played games - swam in the pool & ate all day! In the evening David came and said “Terry, I need your help with the trailer come with me”. As I willingly followed going off on some tangent about Dave cooking food & how awesome he is- David stops me and hugs me from behind and says “Terry I love you with my whole heart and you know your my best friend..” and got down on one knee and said “Will you marry me?!” I was stunned, shocked and speechless. To say the least I had told myself - when it happens it happens, it’s going to be great. I had no idea. All I could say was “yes!!!!!” I kissed him immediately and jumped on him like a child - he said “Do you want to see the ring?!” ... I hadn’t even looked. I then looked down as he slid the ring on my finger and the tears of pure & utter overwhelmingly love poured out of my eyes. Took me a second to collect myself as I was shaking and in pure shock. I turned around and my sister hopped out of the bushes like paparazzi. It was an intimate moment but caught on camera- Unbelievably perfect. We walked in and everyone was quiet... No one knew what had happened until Jamie yelled “They are engaged!”. No one knew David was going to do it until the evening that day. Still speechless I smiled and we cheers to the future “Mr. and Mrs. Terrell”! 🎊
