After many many trips to the farm, we finally looked at each other and said, "WHY are we spending so much time in the car every weekend when we can just live there?" So we bought our home and moved to our favorite place. Now we are inviting you to join us during our weekend of love. To revel in the company of friends and family. To dine on good foods. To savor peacefulness of nature and rural life. To celebrate our union. Camping, cooking, hikes, and music are some of our favorite things. We invite you to camp with us. If that's not your style, no worries! Reserve a room at the Hotel Manning in Keosauqua, we have a room block there for any guests who prefer the luxuries of town.
Sanctuary: /saNGk(t)SHəˌwerē/ 1. a place of refuge or safety. 2. a small pub located near down town Iowa City. It was late March, 2015. I had seen some of David's short films on Facebook and having recently returned from abroad, I was anxious to expand my circle of friends at the University of Iowa. Flashback to late 2011. Younger, skinnier David is sitting across from a sheltered, straight haired, straight laced Taylor at BAM! in Bettendorf. We had been smacked together by a mutual friend who thought we would be the perfect pair. Toward the middle of our date, it became apparent that each of us was dating another person. "I'm more into hipster girls anyway," said David, as it appeared he had no chance. Flash forward to 2015. "Would you like to meet me out for a hipster beer later this week?" a simple proposal made by significantly more hipster Taylor. Sanctuary Pub, known for its church-pew seating, cozy atmosphere, great pizza and overpriced beer. We sat at the bar and talked for a long while about short films, american culture, and a myriad of other obscure topics. This was our second first date, the beginning of one beautiful, adventurous, hipster relationship.
