Harry walked into Room 53, the piano bar David was managing in the summer of 2015. David had sent an email to the musical theater schools in Manhattan that a new piano bar was gearing up in Hell's Kitchen and they served food so they could take underage singers! The AMDA kids became a staple, singing their audition songs night in and night out with the crew of professional pianists. David sang too, as did all of his staff at Room 53. His voice is what first caught Harry's attention. A few weeks later, David was tending bar when Harry signed up to sing "I'm Not Afraid of Anything," from Songs for a New World. The lyrics culminate with the line, "and David loves me, he's afraid to tell me." David's friend Billy at the bar smirked and quipped, "ooo, you in danger, girl." From songs to romance, David and Harry began dating in August of 2015 and soon moved Harry from his closet sized dorm room downtown to David's apartment in Harlem. 2.5 years later, and Harry convinced David to take the trek west and move back to his home area of Seattle. They bought a car, downsized by 80%, loaded it up and drove 5000 miles on an adventure West. Adventure, growth, support, teamwork, and love have been companions ever since. As they start a new journey and a new family, they are taking a cue from their dearest friends Naomi and Kayla and creating a unique surname from their own family names. Mackey & Cogswell become...Mackwell.
