Our modern love story had us meet on Hinge, a dating app. After matching, and getting to know Dave through his music, we met for our first date. We had dinner at Hopcat, which ended up lasting for 4 hours of non-stop talking. With plans to meet for a second date later that week, it quickly turned into a movie date the very next night. And well, hanging out every day since then. We fell in love fast, Dave saying those three little words only a few weeks later.
2020 was a year of ups and downs, mainly because the world was chaos, After surviving quarantine, a long two and a half months of being stuck in our one bedroom apartment, Dave realized he was ready to take the next step. He told his parents of his plans, and bought a ring. He decided his parents' lake house in Whitewater was the perfect place to ask. He told both of Kelsie's parents, and reluctantly her sisters' (they're terrible at keeping secrets!) In true Dave fashion, he signed up for an insane 200 mile ultramarathon, which happened to be taking place in Whitewater. Kelsie pulled together her best support, and set to spend the next three days watching him run and run and run. Dave was left in his dad's good hands for the rest of Friday night, and went back to sleep at the lake house. Within hours, Dave was calling to tell Kelsie (very calmly) that he had dropped out of the race and he was headed back to the lake house. At this point, Kelsie was worried because it was not in Dave's nature to be so calm after having to not finish something he started. The following morning, the melancholy had set in, or so she thought. Dave was being moody and distant, and Kelsie chalked it up to having to drop out of his race. While trying to get packed up to go back home, Dave was out looking at the water. He came back in, and asked if Kelsie wanted to change before we left. She stubbornly said no, wanting to be comfy for the ride home! He didn't argue, and instead took Kelsie out to look at the lake. It was then that she knew, she should have changed out of her pajamas. After sweet words of love, he dropped down to a knee to ask her to marry him. We got to celebrate with family and friends ( and most importantly the cats!)
