For those traveling from NYC: Your best option is likely to get a group together to rent a car or van (or find a friend who owns a car in the city), and enjoy the ride up to Lake Placid through beautiful upstate New York! You can also take the Amtrak train up to Albany, and then drive from there. For those traveling from California: If you prefer connecting flights and less time in the car, consider flying into one of the three closest international airports to Lake Placid (Albany, Burlington or Montreal), and renting a vehicle to drive the rest of the way. We recommend checking in with family and friends to coordinate flights and transportation to save on costs! If you prefer direct flights and more time driving, you can fly into one of the three main NYC area airports (JFK, Newark or LaGuardia) and rent a car from there. For everyone else: We recommend driving or flying into a nearby airport to get to Lake Placid- please let us know if you have any more specific questions!
The most convenient place to stay for our wedding is the venue itself- The Whiteface Lodge! Complete with a game room, movie theater, gym, spa, private lake access and pool, this hotel has everything you could possibly need and more! If you are looking for a more affordable option, we recommend checking out VRBO or airbnb rentals, as well as the many hotels on Main Street in Lake Placid. Keep in mind, if you are staying offsite, you will need to be sure to safely get yourself to and from the wedding, as the Whiteface Lodge is a 5-10 minute drive, or 35 minute walk from town. When searching for rental houses, be sure to check out the many that are within closer walking distance to the venue first! Note: The Whiteface Lodge offers free parking to hotel guests, and valet parking to any wedding guests staying offsite.
