Groom
Ring Bearer, Kiddo Extraordinaire.
My sunshine boy. Our favorite kiddo in the whole wide world. We love watching you grow every single day, in love, in communication, in being a free-spirited child. Ryker is my almost 5 year old son. He is a happy go lucky kid who loves to ask questions about how things work. He'll be our ring bearer during our ceremony but he also gets the privilege of officially gaining Dave as his amazing step-dad! He'll happily tell you a knock knock joke, or a story about pirates, castles, or dinosaurs.
Maid of Honor
Sarah and I have been friends since we were 7 years old. We met in Sunday School in New York, and spent summers at camp, exploring the outdoors, doing school together during the year. When we were 16, we got to travel the world together. There's been countless sleepovers, phone calls, visits across country to see each other. There's been pain and heartbreak, and there's been joy. There's been babies and there's been adventure. There's been funny photos, and growth through the weird and awkward to the strong and strange. Despite all of our many differences, there has always been a love and understanding for the people we were as kids, who we are now, and who we aspire to be!
Bridesmaid
My Beautiful Sister-in-Law. Seleste has been a part of our family since she and my brother started dating in high school. When we were in high school we weren't super close because I was older and went to a different school than she and my brother did. But I knew in high school that she was my brother's person. When life separated them for awhile, and then returned, I did everything I could to make sure that I had an amazing relationship with my first real sister. After a few years, we've built the type of relationship where she is one of my best friends. We talk weekly (despite living in different states), and help build each other up into the strong women that we each aspire to be. I couldn't imagine my life without her. She's the best aunt to my little man, and is filled with much love!
Bridesmaid
When Seleste came into the picture, Kaci came too. Kaci, my adopted sister. Despite already belonging to her own circle of friends (my brothers), Kaci was a welcome and wonderful presence in our house. After many vacations together, and lots of deep conversations overlooking the views of the ocean, Kaci became one of my closest friends. When you get to travel with people, and see the different beautiful parts of the world, you often are also given beautiful friendships. Kaci is my realist. My go to girl who is always down for adventure, and travel. When I asked if she wanted to come to visit us over New Year's she didn't bat an eye when she said yes. She's one person I can count on who is ALWAYS ready to have a fun, and will do the things to make it fun!
Bridesmaid
My best teacher pal. When Katie came to work at the same school as me, I knew that we were going to be friends. For starters, at the time we were the only two woman who were remotely close to the same age. But then, we realized we could discuss literature, history, politics, Harry Potter, art, theater, Harry Potter. antiques, dreams, fashion, podcasts, books, religion. It didn't take long before we became inseparable, and started building cross curricular lessons, and hanging out on the weekend. Want someone to go to the craft festival with you? It's Katie. Want someone to dress up and commit whole heartedly to a theme (even if it's not her thing), its Katie. Want to take on a house project, and need moral support. It's Katie. She's one of the sincerest people to have as a friend.
Bridesmaid
My best friend since 6th grade. My military twin. Despite the fact that we have lived on opposite ends of the country ( West Coast vs. East Coast) since we were in high school, Gabby and I still talk almost weekly. As adults, we've made an effort to see each other as often as possible despite being in different career fields, and completely different schedules. She's been my ride or die since we were 11, my favorite artist, my free spirit. She's one of the biggest supporters of my every aspect of my life, and is the kindest and most honest person you can meet. She's my dreamer. She's the one who will encourage you to follow your wildest dreams, and will hype you up the entire time. She's the type of person that you want in your corner, who is fierce and lovely, and beautiful.
Bridesmaid
My college roommate and college best friend. Jackie is my beautiful soul. She's the one who will decide that you need a dance break on the rooftop overlooking the city. The one who will let you borrow her costumes because she's got 4 more, the one who will honestly check in and ask how you are in your faith (even though she doesn't share your own), and encourage you to step back into it. She'll be the friend who spends hours studying with you, and will plan on a movie night to reward all your progress. She spent countless nights dictating my papers when I couldn't get the words to type, but could speak them all. She is one of the brightest lights the world has to offer, and will be the first one to pull you onto the dancefloor and celebrate in the most obnoxious and beautiful way.
Officiant
Mains and I have been friends since high school. After high school we fell out of touch for a few years, and then started working and coaching together in our mid twenties. We moved to another city together and lived together, while we coached football. I wanted Mains to marry us because he’s one of my best friends, and he’s made me a better person by teaching me about being a better teacher and coach. He’s a really great guy that I enjoy hanging out with.
Best Man
Chad is one cool cat. I met him after college while I was living in Charleston. We became friends quickly and he has always been super inviting to meeting new people. We’ve had a lot of fun together and adventures in Charleston. Even though we decided both leave the city to new places, he’s one of the guys I can always count on to talk to and pick up exactly where we left off. We’ve had a lot of really cool adventures together and he has shown me what it means to be a true friend.
Groomsman
I met Drew when he was 18 years old. He was this tiny little kid, but a kid who was really cool. He hung out with us despite us all being 6-7 years older. At one point he became our permanent DD, and has always been a hard worker, and a great friend you could always count on. I’ve gotten to watch him grow from a kid to a man who takes care of his wife and family, and really holds our friend group accountable for maintaining our friendships. Now that we’re both in the Augusta area he is really one of my best friends, and I enjoy getting to see him pretty regularly and being apart of his life.
Groomsman
It’s kind of funny how Rob became apart of our friend group. He didn’t go to college with us, but he ended up working with a lot of us at Outback. We really all became friends because we played poker together. When we moved to Spartanburg, Rob ended up getting a job at the high school where we would help him coach some, and watch him become a teacher. He’s an all around great dude, husband, and father, and he’s really a great person to hang out with. Rob is great because even though there were periods that we didn’t speak for long periods of time, I know I can pick up the phone and we can pick up right where we left off, like we never stopped talking.
Groomsman
Dan is one of my few friends from Charleston that’s actually the same age as me, everyone else was either slightly older or younger than me. We worked together at Outback. Dan became really good friends with me and Chad and we got to know him really well. He was one of the last to move away from Charleston, and found himself a great life in Detroit. Dan and I are really similar in some ways because we took similar paths to become educators. Dan is the friend I always want to have on my golf team because he’s better than all of his, even though Drew and I beat him the last time we played.
Groomsman
Guster is probably my oldest friend. He’s the first friend I made after moving from Pittsburgh to Columbia. He was my best friend throughout high school, and we have a lot of great memories together. We don’t talk as often as we should, but I got to be his best man at his wedding. He’s one of those guys who you just know will always be a lifelong friend.
Groomsman
Dray has the best story of how I ever met someone in my life. If you get the chance, you need to ask him to tell it. He’s the only guy from my original hall in college that I still talk to on a regular basis. We worked together and lived together for awhile. We bonded over studying and playing poker. Dray and I share a love of education, and I got really close to him and his family when living in Chesterfield. He’s an awesome father and wife, and it was really cool getting to watch some of my best friends become a family.
