Our Story

Dave & Dani met through work- specifically, on a 3hr car ride to Provincetown for a Joan Rivers Comedy show. They continued to work the same gigs, and really got to know each other over a 3-day festival at Boston's City Hall Plaza. The event was a mess. They spent the first day trying to figure out what act was next and doing their best to put order to chaos. Bands would appear and tell them a set time and what instruments they had. A man with his trained dogs informed them he would be performing between each act. A lovely troupe of traditional Chinese dancers tried to add a costume change to their act. During the "Recycled Fashion" Runway show, the models shoehorned in an actual wedding. So, while sitting side stage, crouched behind the sound board trying to quickly eat Subway sandwiches, Danielle insisted that Dave and the other tech to all hold hands as the new couple was prayed over. They worked in harmony so well on the first day of the festival that they insisted on staying on the same stage for the remaining 2 days, despite being assigned to other stages. As that event loaded out, there was a problem: the company they worked for was too cheap for a decent sized box truck, so the crappy 16ft box truck had to do round multiple trips, with a solid 45min between the truck leaving full and returning empty. Their site lead that night decided to allow 2 techs at at time to go to the bar across the road for a beer during the waiting period. She singled out Dave & Danielle, and so they went for their first drink. They continued talking, and decided to go on their first real date. Spoiler alert: it was a disaster (and trigger warning: dead animal). Dani picked up Dave, and they started their drive to an outdoor park and food truck spot in Boston's Seaport. The took a wrong turn, and ended up at Boston Logan Airport. Dani didn't have an EZPass, and they didn't have enough cash to pay the toll to leave the airport. As the toll worked started to write out a ticket, they managed to scrape together enough change to pay the toll. They got back on the road, and made it to the Seaport District... only to find the park closed for a private event. Deciding to make the best of it, they headed to the center of Boston to grab burritos at a Boloco right off the Boston Commons. As they sat down next to the window to eat their burritos... a pigeon flew into the window directly next to them, and proceeded to slowly die on the sidewalk, as pedestrians tried to figure out if they could help the bird. Luckily, they made it out of Boston without further incident. Despite everything the universe tried to tell them on their first day, they made their relationship official. From there, it's been 11-going-on-12 years of making a life together. They continued to work together, freelancing on events. Dani would crash at Dave's apartment outside in Watertown rather than drive back to New Hampshire. They signed a lease for an apartment in Norwood, MA, the same day Dani accepted a job in MA. They worked at the same production company, Dave moving up the ladder from within while Dani took an open position. They moved to a bigger apartment in Canton, and started their "projector nights" for outdoor Mario Kart. They saw the Grand Canyon and the Sequoias. They bought a house in Raynham, and got two adorable dogs named Gizmo & Gabe. They've changed jobs, changed hair colors and beard lengths, added and removed tattoos, and built their own little family. All that's left is to get married.
