In the summer of 2017, Becca was sitting in the hallway of Euclid Municipal Court, waiting to get her traffic citation hearing over with. You can't just pay your fine in Euclid... you actually have to go in, face a judge, and THEN pay your fine. Stewing with anxiety and boredom, she considered all the encouragement her boss and friend, Nicole, had been giving her to join a dating app. Figuring she had nothing to lose (except maybe her drivers license one day), she figured she'd give it a go. Two days later, her and Devin matched. A week later, their first date was scheduled for the following Friday... ...Except Becca was in a particularly bad mood the following Wednesday after work and really wanted a drink. Fortunately, Devin was more than willing to move their first date up a couple of days. UNfortunately, Devin was incredibly UNwilling to give her a hug when they met. Becca, a hugger, naturally went in the second she saw him. Devin, a sweet, beautiful man who prefers to not be touched by strangers, responded by going as stiff as possible with his arms glued to his sides. After the initial awkward start, they sat and talked for hours, drinking watermelon margaritas. So many watermelon margaritas, in fact, that Becca was just tipsy enough to ask Devin to take the Myers Briggs Personality Test right there at the table... and Devin was just tipsy enough to do it. From there, they decided to keep their Friday date as their second date. On that date, they decided to go on their third date on Sunday. And the rest is history.
Devin was dying to get rid of the ring. It was March of 2020, and he had had the ring for a few weeks. He was considering waiting until the pandemic was over in a few months (if only we would have known then what we know now...) to propose. But the more it sat there hiding, the more it made him anxious. He knew he just had to do it. Saturday, March 28th, after a night of hanging out and playing trivia, he set his plan into motion. Two weeks prior, Becca and Devin had adopted Paco, a four month old puppy. When Paco gets something new that he wants to play with without intervention (especially if it's something he knows he shouldn't be playing with), he runs behind the recliner in the living room. Devin gave Paco the bag he got from the jewelers and he sprinted into the living room where Becca was. Not knowing what he had (but knowing he shouldn't have it), Becca ran after him to pull it out of his mouth. When she turned around, Devin was on one knee with the ring. What makes this even more special? In 2019, Becca bought the house from her cousin, Jennie. Years ago, Jennie and her husband, Brad, got engaged in the kitchen. Becca and Devin are so thrilled to be able to fill their home with as much love as Jennie and Brad did for over a decade.
