Daytime high temperatures tend to be mostly in the lower 60s F (15-17 C) while overnight lows tend to average in the mid to upper 40s F (7-9C). The city averages 7 days of rain in January. Fingers-crossed we aren't one of them.
There are currently five operating streetcar lines in New Orleans: The St. Charles Avenue Line, the Riverfront Line, the Canal Street Line (which has two branches), and the Loyola Avenue Line and Rampart/St. Claude Line. The Historic St. Charles Streetcar Line is the longest in the city and the oldest continuously operating street railway system in the world. The St. Charles line connects the French Quarter with the Garden District. You can use this line to travel from the French Quarter to the reception at The Elms Mansion. You may purchase tickets for the streetcar online or from the streetcar driver. A day pass is $3. If purchasing a ticket from a driver, exact cash is required. No credit cards.
There are several streetcar stops located near the JW Marriott and Natchez that are on the St. Charles line that will take you Uptown/Garden District which is where The Elms Mansion venue is. You will need to get off of the streetcar at the intersection of St. Charles and 8th Street. The Elms Mansion will be directly across the street. It is approximately 20 minutes from Common Street to this stop. The cars on the St Charles line are registered with the National Register of Historic Places and remain unaltered. This means there is no air conditioning, the cars ride with open windows. This line runs all day and night, seven days a week. As of October 29, face masks are required on public transport.
Both of our venues require proof of vaccine or a negative COVID test within the last 72 hours. We recommend you take a photo of your vaccine card and save it to your phone camera roll. As of October 29, 2021, the mask mandate in Orleans parish has been lifted, with the exception of K-12 schools, healthcare facilities, and public transportation. Proof of vaccination for all eligible individuals 12 years and older, or a negative COVID-19 PCR or antigen test within 72 hours, will be required at most indoor venues in Orleans Parish and outdoor events where more than 500 people are in attendance. Examples of such venues are: • Restaurants • Bars • Concerts and music halls • Adult live performance venues • Casinos
