We met through mutual friends after the Howard vs. Hampton football game. Without knowing, we were both at McDonald's on Georgia Ave (if you know, you know). While walking back to 'The Yard', our friends found each other, and introduced us. We spent the next 5 hours talking, before exchanging numbers. We went with the same friends to a party that night, which lead to Jamil dropping us off. After sitting outside talking for another 3 hours, Jamil respectfully asked if he could see me again- to which I agreed. We knew from that day forward, that we were soulmates!
We had a very untraditional proposal; Jamil hid the ring inside of another box, in plain sight. He was watching the Denver Broncos game, while I was working on my finals. He waited until I submitted my assignment, but he knew I kept my laptop on the bookcase, where he kept this particular box. He asked if I could pass him the box, but ironically the Broncos had made a play that took his focus. I sat the box next to him, and he gave it back to me with a smile, and asked if I could open it because "the game is making his palms sweaty thinking the Broncos might lose". I opened this little box, and started to cry. Jamil hugged me, and asked was it a yes or no. I cried again, and screamed YES! We are so excited to share this special day with you. See you in Baltimore!
