Question

Is there a dress code?

Answer

We ask that our guests celebrate with us in formal attire. We suggest wearing a suit (or tuxedo) maxi, midi or knee length dresses, or pantsuits. Creative, colorful, fun, or even eccentric summer styles are encouraged.

Will the ceremony and reception be indoors or outdoors?

Answer

Weather permitting the ceremony and dinner will take place outside on the terrace. The cocktail hour will take place outside in the courtyard. Dancing will be in the Great Hall indoors. The indoor areas are air-conditioned. Guests will have access to both indoors and outdoors throughout the events. Bathrooms are availalbe on the first floor of the venue.

Is there parking available at the venue?

Answer

The Villa Terrace Decorative Arts Museum is located in an urban neighborhood and does not have onsite parking. Some street parking is available where posted. A complimentary wedding shuttle will run between the 2 hotels and the venue beginning at 3:10 pm and then again at approximately 9:30 pm. Ride sharing services are also encouraged. When should I arrive and how does seating work?

Answer

The ceremony will begin at 4pm. Guests may start arriving at 3:30pm in order to take a seat on the Terrace. The ceremony will be open seating except for a few rows at the front for immediate family. For the reception/dinner, there are long, rectangular tables with guests assigned to both a table and a seat - place cards will indicate your seat and meal choice.

What is the shuttle schedule?

Answer

A complimentary shuttle service provided by Milwaukee Bus Rentals will pick up guests at the Hyatt at 3:10pm, the St. Kate at 3:15pm, and the wedding party guests at the Airbnb at 3:30pm. It will begin return trips to all 3 locations at approximately 9:30pm until the final trip at 11:15pm. The shuttle will transport guests to the after party at the St. Kate during this timeframe.

Can we tour the venue/museum during the event?

Answer

Guests will have access to the first floor of the venue beginning at 3pm if interested in touring the museum which includes the courtyard, Great Hall, terrace and gardens. We ask that guests begin getting seated on the terrace for the ceremony between 3:30 and 4:00pm. The bar will open after the ceremony in the courtyard for cocktail hour. Note that the Villa Terrace is a functioning art museum and former home donated to Milwaukee County. There are both permanent and rotating art exhibits. While guests are encouraged to enjoy the space, we kindly ask that guests do not touch, move, alter, cover, or damage any art item in the museum.

What should I do between the ceremony and the reception?

Answer

After the ceremony the cocktail hour will begin in the courtyard. During that time the wedding party will be taking pictures in the garden before rejoining their guests for a champagne toast in the courtyard. Please start the party with an appetizer and beverage and we will join you soon!

Is there an open bar?

Answer

Yes, there will be select beer, wine, spirits, and non-alcoholic beverages.

Am I allowed to bring in my own personal alcohol?

Answer

Due to state law and licensing, other than bottled water, personal beverages are not allowed on the premises. All alcohol on the premises must be provided by the venue's bar service. All alcohol must be returned to vehicles or hotels. Museum/venue staff has the authority to confiscate any outside alcoholic beverages discovered.

Is smoking allowed at the venue?

Answer

Smoking is not allowed in the venue/museum, terrace, gardens or anywhere on the grounds. This includes the use of e-cigarettes, vape pens and similar devices.

Why is the music stopping at 10:30pm? Is there an After Party?

Answer

We ask that guests begin departing between 10:30 and 11:00pm. If guests want to continue the celebration we ask that you join us at the Bar at the Saint Kate - The Arts Hotel on the first floor across from the Lobby. The wedding shuttle will be available to transport guests here and to the other two hotels. Due to a City of Milwaukee Ordinance regarding noise and courtesy to the Villa Terrace's residential neighbors, there is a 10:30pm limit for all music. Museum/venue staff have the authority to stop any music that doesn't end promptly at 10:30pm.

When should I RSVP?

Answer

July 1, 2025 is the official last day to RSVP. You can use the RSVP function on this website by clicking on the RSVP tab and typing in your name. You will be able to choose your meal and identify any dietary concerns so that we may accommodate you.

Can I bring a plus one?

Answer

Due to limited venue capacity, we are unable to accommodate plus ones unless it is specifically indicated on your envelope. For example, your envelope would list "(your name) & Guest". When you RSVP, you will be able to see the exact number of people for whom you can RSVP.

Are children invited?

Answer

We have not included children on our guest list. If you require child care, please contact us so that we may offer you assistance. Pease enjoy a date night on us!
