In 2011 Glen's Memere was a patient at Overlook Nursing and Rehab, where Daryl worked as a CNA when she was home from college in Vermont. Daryl fell in love with Mem and loved getting to know Mem's family, including Glen's mom and his Uncle Russell. She even knew baby Jamie before she ever met Glen. Mem's roommate had told Daryl to go on a date with Mem's grandson (whom she mentioned "looked like Paulie D!"). As Mem's health condition worsened, Glen had reached out to Daryl to update her of Mem's status. When Daryl came from Vermont to attend Mem's funeral, Daryl and Glen (and Jamie) all spent time together for the first time, sharing stories of beloved Mem! Once Daryl came home for winter break, Daryl and Glen spent endless time together and made their relationship official. They dated long distance until Daryl graduated in May 2012. Once back in Rhode Island, the Marcottes took Daryl into their home to be able to build a strong relationship with Jamie (and Glen of course) and the rest is history!
