How We Met

May 11, 2018

This is written by Bryan: Who knew that the best dating app/website around is Twitter? I sure didn’t expect to find my future wife on an app where I mostly followed head coaches, reporters, and anything associated with Mississippi State University. However, here we are. I remember the first time Julie and I ever talked. I was at my parents watching MSU baseball playing Auburn on April 15, 2018. They lost to Auburn 5-7. Auburn scored all their runs in the 6th inning so, if you know me, you knew I would take to Twitter to air my grievances. Later that evening I received a direct message from @julesdarty. Who after some research, I found out was the newly hired MSU Volleyball head coach. Of course, I was following her. We messaged back and forth for a little while using Twitter’s direct messaging. We talked about volleyball, favorite places in Starkville, and where The Junction got its name. Later, I asked for her phone number and gave her mine so we could text or call instead of using Twitter. We began texting and talking about life and things other than Mississippi State. This was great because we began to learn about each other and started to see this could possibly go beyond friendship. We decided, well Julie decided (haha), that it was time for us to meet in person. We set up our first date for May 11, 2018. We had lunch at Bulldog Burger, watched the first round of the NCAA tennis tournament & finished up our eventful day with old fashioneds and wine at The Guest Room. It was a great (last) first date! Early on I knew that there was something special about Julie and the relationship we built in such short time. This was the beginning of something great! One innocent DM led to a quick visit from Julie in Richmond, a trip to Omaha, a bowl game in Tampa and finding my best friend and soul mate. I’m still just as anxious and excited for the next time I get to see Julie as I was on our first date! I cannot wait to start our life together. I Love you JuJu!

For all the days along the way
