It all began on Hinge in November 2021, shortly after Nate moved to the city. Their first date at Nonna Beppa set the tone for something special — Darrigan in a red dress, Nate completely captivated, and both quickly discovering they shared many interests, The New York Rangers, food, travel, and movies. The date ended with one more shared surprise — they had the same birthday! Their second date took them ice skating, the third to an arcade, and soon they were spending every waking moment together. Weekends were spent traveling between the city and Middletown — a two-hour trek filled with missed trains, parking mishaps, and endless memories. In July 2022, Darrigan moved to the Upper East Side while Nate lived in FiDi. Despite being on opposite ends of Manhattan, they stayed committed. Finally, in May 2024, Nate convinced Darrigan to move downtown, and their long commutes turned into cozy walks home together. Then, on June 30, 2025, during an unforgettable trip to Iceland, Nate got down on one knee at Kvernufoss waterfall — just beside Skógafoss, the backdrop of Jon Snow and Daenerys’s iconic kiss in Game of Thrones. He asked, “Do you know what episode this waterfall was in?” and before Darrigan could answer, he smiled and said, “The one where we get engaged.” ❤️
