On July 28, 2018, Matt went out with friends in Belmar, NJ. As fate would have it, the same friends invited Darrian out as well. While enjoying an ice cream cone at Mamaluke's and trying to figure out where we were going next, Matt noticed this girl in the group was struggling to figure out how to order an UberXL on her phone. Fortunately for Matt, that girl was Darrian. One flick of the finger to the right on her iPhone and the rest was history.
In late October of 2020, Darrian was asked to arrive at Natirar park in Peapack, NJ for a "photo shoot" for Matt's parent's 30th wedding anniversary. On November 7, 2020, under the guise of a photo shoot, Matt and Darrian arrived but only to find a photographer and Matt's sister, Amy. With Darrian realizing it was just her and Matt, Matt reached over for the ring, which was neatly placed on the ledge of a walking bridge by Amy, got down on one knee, and proposed to Darrian. And she said YES! The couple was met by family at the park's picnic area and the celebrations continued throughout the weekend.
