Where is Mongena Private Game Reserve?

Mongena Private Game Reserve is located within the Big Five Dinokeng Game Reserve, approximately 20 minutes from Pretoria and about an hour’s drive from Johannesburg.

Is there a dress code?
Answer
Not at all—you’ll be right in the heart of the bush for the wedding. Whether you choose a suit, jeans, or sneakers, all styles are welcome. Please dress comfortably, and remember to bring something warm as the evenings can get chilly. The ceremony will take place under the trees beside the river, with the reception held under a lapa overlooking the dam. As May can be quite cool, please keep the weather in mind when planning your outfit. Most importantly, we want you to feel relaxed, comfortable, and ready to enjoy the day with us!

What about the conservation levies for Dinokeng Game Reserve?
Answer
Dinokeng Game Reserve charges a conservation levy for guests staying in the reserve for longer than one hour. These fees contribute directly to anti-poaching efforts and the ongoing maintenance of the reserve. Please note that the levy is not included in the overnight accommodation rate and is currently R80 per person, per night (R160 per person for the weekend) and R50 per vehicle. Fees are subject to change without prior notice. The conservation levy is payable on/before entry at the Dinokeng Game Reserve gate. There is a kiosk at the entrance where payment can be made. Payment can also be made online at https://www.dinokengreserve.co.za/dgr-north/

What if we get thirsty during the festivities?

Welcome drinks will be served after the ceremony, and a cash bar (accepting both cash and card payments) will be available at the reception.

We truly don’t expect any gifts, as we know that attending a destination wedding is already a meaningful commitment. Please just come and enjoy the weekend with us—your presence is more than enough. How do I book a game drive?
Answer
Please contact Mongena Private Game Reserve directly at activities@mongena.co.za and indicate that you are a wedding guest, as this will qualify you for a 10% discount on game drives. For example, Darren will be joining game drives on both Friday afternoon and Saturday morning, while Karina will be joining the Friday afternoon drive only.
