The Island of Ireland itself consists of the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. Northern Ireland is a region that is considered to be part of the UK. Therefore, American visitors must obtain a ‘UK’ ETA when intending to travel to Northern Ireland whist visiting the Island of Ireland. The UK Electronic Travel Authorization (UK ETA) costs £10 (roughly $13). NOTE: The price for the UK ETA is increasing to £16 on 9 April. The best way to apply is through the UK ETA app, which can be downloaded from the Google Play or Apple App Store on your phone. **Be aware that there are multiple scam websites out there, so please make sure you are only applying through the UK ETA app, which is a UK government app.** US Citizens do not need to obtain a Visa to visit the Republic of Ireland, and can enter the Republic of Ireland for tourism stays of up to 90 days.
