Amina and Darren’s story began on June 1st, 2019, in the Outer Banks of North Carolina—because if you’re going to meet your person, you might as well do it by the ocean. Darren reached out first. Naturally. He was also late. Naturally. But even with a less-than-punctual arrival, the evening quickly became unforgettable. After dinner, Amina invited her brother for a quick meet—the official sniff test. A bold move, but an important one. Darren passed, approval was granted, and the night ended with a story they still laugh about to this day. As the months went on, their connection only deepened. Later that same year, during a November trip to Colorado, surrounded by the mountains they both love, everything became clear. In the quiet moments, shared laughter, and love of adventure, it was obvious this wasn’t just a beach-date success story—it was the beginning of something lasting. The proposal, also in Colorado, was awkward, adorable, and perfectly Darren. He had thoughtfully arranged every detail, including a photographer waiting nearby, and was incredibly nervous. Despite the nerves, the moment was tender and full of love—and Amina said yes. What they love most about each other is both simple and meaningful.
