We've discovered with our personal travels, that renting directly at one of the Rental Car centers at LaGuardia airport is easiest when you need to get back to catch a flight. The shuttles take you directly to the Rental Car area on arrival and back to the airport when you're ready to depart. JFK airport was also easy to navigate, as an alternative option.
