Haley and I met the night before New Year’s Eve 2019 on Bourbon Street in New Orleans! I was there with a friend just for three or four days visiting, and Haley was supposed to be on a couple’s trip with two of her best friends. Lucky for me though, Haley and her ex broke up a little over a month prior to the trip, so she was single as can be! I had been in the bar for a while and I saw Haley on the complete opposite side walking to the bathroom. We both locked eyes and smiled at each other and I thought that was that. About ten minutes later, I’m standing talking to my buddy and I feel someone grab my hand from behind. Sure enough, it’s Hay. The first thing she says to me is, “Do you know how to swing dance?” I said something pretty smooth along the lines of “No, but I’d like to learn”. We then proceeded to dance for the next hour and a half together, and it was the time of my life. Not surprisingly, the rest of my trip to NOLA was spent with Haley and her friends, not with my buddy. Two months later, Haley moved to Austin and I was spending nearly every weekend visiting her. Our bond grew stronger and stronger and we simply couldn’t get enough time with one another. In June of 2020, Hay came to faith in Christ and I quickly began to fall in love with her. The girl of my dreams decided to put God at the center of her life and I could not have been any more excited. Fast forward two years later and here we are, preparing for marriage in early 2023. It’s a story that I could have never drawn up myself, and the most exciting story that I’ve ever been a part of. These last couple of years have been magical, and I can only imagine what the next 50 will look like.
