Daron and I met through mutual friends 11 years ago. A favorite memory with him is when D stayed with me in the hospital all night when I had an eye injury.

I met Yuli 7 years ago through a volunteer organization at our college. A couple weeks before the start of the semester our volunteer group drove to Joplin MO to help with supply distribution to families who were struggling with the aftermath of a horrible tornado. She is a great mentor. She really knows how to push limits and is not scared to try new things. Yuli once convinced me to run a 1/2 marathon w/her. Things got interesting quick because the race started at 9pm. We lost our breath in the hot humid trail and had to walk alone in the dark. We felt spider webs in our eyelashes and bugs on our skin. Our hearts were pounding, but we felt alive. We finished the race around midnight and drove to my parents house sticky & muddy. I wouldn't do it again but it's fun to laugh about it now.

Yuli and I have been friends for 7 years. We knew of each other for about a year before we became friends. We were both in sororities and the same volunteer organization at our college, but hadn’t talked much. Our sophomore year of college we both signed up to go on a two week study abroad/volunteer trip to Nicaragua. It was through the meetings leading up to the trip and the trip itself that we quickly became close friends. I love how strong, adventurous, and caring Yuli is. Some of my favorite memories with her are from trips we’ve taken, especially our trip to New York City. She is one of my favorite people to travel with because she can make any situation fun. And also because we both have the same #1 priority when traveling: trying new food.

I met Daron in the Marine Corps shortly after both of us joined, we were stationed together in California and have known each other for about 7 years since. A great memory would have to be the night Daron won his first belt in the Mixed Martial Arts world because he had always insisted for years that it would be his profession as well as being the best at it and that night it came to fruition.

I met Yuli 9 years ago during a spectacular campus tour I was giving that convinced Yuli to go to Washburn! That summer I served as Yuli’s S.O.C. (Summer Orientation Counselor) and when she joined Alpha Phi Fraternity I had the honor of being her Grand Big and roommate. Yuli and I were inseparable in college. We like to have fun and dancing is usually involved! Yuli has a signature dance I call “The Yuli”, however one day in particular during the time the song "WOP" was popular we cruising down the road and when “WOP” came on the radio the only next logical thing to do at our favorite part was to get out and dance. Those 30 seconds on the side of the road was the best dancing I have ever done. I’m so glad to have a friend that not only indulges my goofy side, but also participates.
