Our Love Story

From the Library to the Altar

Darlingtina and Kamahl first crossed paths in September 2021. True to their scholarly nature, they were both frantically searching the library for a study room ahead of midterm week. God’s perfect timing stepped in when they spotted a mutual friend tucked away in one of the rooms—and, without hesitation, they both joined. What began as a random encounter soon after grew into a slow-burning friendship, filled with shared conversations and long walks from the library back to Spelman’s gates. Then one day, Kamahl asked Darlingtina to the SCAD Fashion Museum—an ironic yet perfect first hangout for an artist at heart, and the site of his eventual proposal. It was there that they began to see each other differently, realizing this connection might be something more. After much prayer and time getting to know one another, the two began dating in June of 2022. Four years later they’ve decided to honor God’s perfect design for romantic relationship—marriage. Marriage is a divine illustration of our sacred relationship between Christ and His Church. The two becoming one flesh is a reflection of God's people becoming one with Him. The pursuit of a husband mirrors Christ’s relentless pursuit of His Church. The submission of a wife reflects the Church’s submission to Christ. And the lifelong vows between husband and wife symbolize our unbreakable, eternal covenant with Him. From the Library to the Altar—we pray that through our love, you see His. We can’t wait to celebrate with you!
