FAQs

Question

Where am I supposed to be, and when?

Answer

The schedule tab has all of the details on the ceremony, reception, and coffee the next day. For the ceremony, please arrive no earlier than 4:30 pm. The ceremony starts at 5 pm, and we ask that you be seated 5-10 minutes before that. If you can't find what you need there, use the RSVP tab on the website and type in your name to see all the events happening and when and where to be!

Question

How about parking and transportation for the ceremony and reception?

Answer

There's plenty of parking at Polegreen (the ceremony site). The reception will be a 20-minute drive away at Hardywood Park Craft Brewery. Hardywood has a small lot and plenty of street parking on Ownby Lane. A sober ride home at the end of the night is on us! Use code "DandC2019" in the Lyft app to get where you're going! Other businesses near Hardywood have their own parking lots, but we're told they tow sometimes!

Question

What should I wear?

Answer

The ceremony will be outdoors, and the reception is at one of our favorite local breweries, so it won't be a black tie affair. We recommend garden or cocktail attire, which could be a sundress or khakis and a button-up to your boss-like pantsuit, cocktail dress, or your favorite suit and tie.

Question

Do you have a wedding hashtag?

Answer

If you don't know what a wedding hashtag is, don't worry about it. For those who care, it's #isaidwhataboutlove because Darlene doesn't know the words to songs. What do we mean? Well, during a rousing game of Time's Up! with the Briggs family, Caleb was trying to get Darlene to guess "Breakfast at Tiffany's." When Caleb sang the first part of the song, "And I said, what about ... ," Darlene inexplicably blurted out "LOVE!?" It scored zero points in the game, but it does make for a funny memory and a fun hashtag.

Question

Do you have any recommendations for fun things to do in Richmond?

Answer

We have a few! There's lots to do and see in Richmond, but here's how we've enjoyed the city: RESTAURANTS - Tazza - Goatocado - Perly's - Citizen Burger Bar - Fat Dragon DRINKS (most serve food or have a food truck, but check before you go if it's food you want) - The Answer - Mekong - The Veil - Blue Bee Cider - Lamplighter (coffee) FUN STUFF (with or without drinks; food also served) - Bingo (arcade-style games) - The Circuit (arcade-style games) - Carytown shops OTHER RECOMMENDATIONS (we haven't been to any of these but have heard they're great!) - Edo's Squid (Italian food) - River City Roll (bowling, beer, and food) - The Jasper (cocktail bar, speakeasy feel) - SWITCH Pop-Up Bar (fun, themed bar areas--one is 1993-themed with music to match and the other is Alice in Wonderland--with food) - Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden - Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (free!) You can also go to www.VisitRichmondVA.com for other ideas. Enjoy yourselves!!

Question

Are kids welcome?

Answer

Yes, plenty of our friends and family have kids, and we want to celebrate with everyone! Some have decided to use the chance for a parents' night out, and that's okay with us too.

Question

Anything else I should know?

Answer

We're mixing a few traditional and less-traditional elements so the wedding feels like us. Our hope is that you'll feel as comfortable and relaxed as if we were just hanging out and celebrating! We'll have passed appetizers during the cocktail hour, but dinner will be served from a (delicious!) food truck we've reserved for the occasion. The most important thing to us is that everyone has fun!
